Alumni Game
18 former players returned to Bobcat Stadium for a match against the current squad. It was a very spirited game which was competitive in the first half. Ricky Bockari(player/coach) was very creative in his tactical decisions for the alumni team, playing a variety of different formations even opting for 1-5-4 towards the end leaving goalkeeper Brandon Rethemeyer with a lone defender to thwart the attacks of the current squad. Last year's AMCC Conference Player of the Year, Adam Gracia, was kept in check for most of the game only registering one shot which was saved easily by current goalkeeper Stephen Cavallo. The boys really enjoyed seeing and meeting all the former players and hearing their stories about how much the program means to them and getting a chance to share in some of their memories.

At Geneva College
The team traveled to Geneva College to play the Golden Tornadoes in an exhibition match. The Bobcats won 4-1 and most of the players got into the match for at least 45 minutes. Ricky Marchant opend the scoring with a deft header over the keeper. After Geneva equalized it was Steve Jacobsen who put Frostburg back on top. Freshman Shawn Baker scored his third goal in 2 exhibition matches to put Frostburg up 3-1, and it was Michael Hurst's header off of a free kick that closed out the game. We were very pleased to have the opportunity to get all the players into the game and see competitive minutes and not come away with an injury. The team will train Friday before hosting the annual alumni match on Saturday at 2 pm. We are looking forward to seeing a lot of familiar faces back on campus.

Preseason Update
Over 30 players reported to preseason on Tuesday, August 18. The first day consisted of checking into their rooms, meeting the coaches and other players, and lots of paper work to complete medical and NCAA obligations in order to train. Wednesday morning was the first session of the 2009 season. The team started with the Cooper's Test and then played small sided games. The afternoon involved some defensive work followed by a full scrimmage at night.
Thursday's emphasis was been on possession. There was a nice spell of rain that provided a cooling off period in the afternoon. We are about to begin our evening scrimmage....

Preseason Poll Frostburg at #3
The Preseason Coaches Poll has Frostburg finishing in third place. Medaille is the top with Penn State Behrend in the second position. We will play both of those teams on the road this year. We open conference play with Behrend on September 19 @ 3:00pm and then on October 3 @ 8:00 pm we will play Medaille. With this being our last season in the AMCC Conference we know that we can take no team lightly as each game presents different challenges. Hopefully playing the top teams on the road will bring out the best in our team as a quality effort will be needed come home with points from those programs.
