Season Comes to an End

Our season came to an end Wednesday night in Buffalo as we lost 3-0 to #1 seed Medaille College in the AMCC semi-finals.  We finished the season with a 12-7-1 record and won 8 of our last 9 games down the stretch to close at the season.

We lost to a very good team on Wednesday.  We would have needed to play a complete game in all areas of the field for 90 minutes to beat them and we didn't do that.  We started the game very sloppily with a lot of fouls and wasted passes, but by the 15 minute mark we had settled in and began to make it more of a game that we could compete in.  Medaille would score in the 34th minute off a low shot to the corner of the goal and I thnk that shook us a little becasue by the 44th minute it was 3-0.

I was proud of the boys for not quitting and still fighting in the second half and working to get a goal back.  We actually did have a few good scoring opportunities that could have opened up the game, but their keeper was strong and kept the shutout. We let all 8 seniors finish out the game and to their credit they played with pride until the final whistle blew.

We did not declare for the ECAC tournament this year and although I think our record would be strong enough to get us in our season ended Wednesday night.

We have been hard at work already and our excited about the potential of our 2010 recruiting class.  We are looking forward to getting on the road these next few weekends to evaluate some more players and put a class together that will allow us to compete immediately in the highly competitive Capital Athletic Conference next year.
