Tesfu Leads Frostburg to First CAC Win

Sophomore Nabayee Tesfu
We opened up CAC play this past weekend at Wesley and earned the three points thanks to goals by Nabayee Tesfu and Rodrigo Valenzuela.

It was a great way to start CAC play and defeating a good Wesley team on the road was no easy accomplishment.

We did some good things in the first half on the ball and our defense was very strong.  I thought we carried the play for most of the half and were rewarded with an early goal when Nabayee Tesfu volleyed home a nice flick from Rodrigo Valenzuela off of a long throw-in at the 17th minute mark.

The second half was much more defensive as Wesley pushed for the equalizer.  We defended very well and only allowed a few scoring chances, but could never get consistent possession of the ball and seemed to be on our heels most of the half.

Late in the match as the game was beginning to open up Rodrigo Valenzuela took a feed from Nelson Mwanza just outside the box and drilled a shot over the keepers head into the top corner to seal the game.

We competed well and and showed a good fighting spirit, but we'll need to adjust better to that style of play moving forward if we are going to contend for a CAC championship.

We are back at it Tuesday night as we face Waynesburg in our last non-conference match of the season.
